Evaluating Internet Resources
Imagine that you are writing a paper on the laws related to prayer in public schools in the U.S. You are looking for factual information about these laws. You do an internet search and find the websites below. Which of these sites are useful for your purpose? Look at them with a partner and discuss your choices.

Missing assignments...
Hello, my Writing 5 friends. Several people are missing some (or all!) of last week's assignments. These are a part of your grade, so please try to keep up with them. They're posted here in the class journal, so no excuses unless you're dead. :)

Another resource
Through the Nashville Public Library website, you can access EBSCO, a well-known online research database. Go here and select "EBSCO MasterFILE." If you have a library card, you can use your name and your card's bar code number to access EBSCO. If you don't have a library card, see me for help.

10/31/05 assignment
One advantage of keeping your journal online is that you can easily share your ideas with everyone else in your class. Be sure to add everyone in the class to your "Friends" list. Then post a brief self-introduction. Tell us about yourself, your goals, and what you hope to gain from this class. I'll post mine in my journal now, and I look forward to reading your introductions soon!
